A Reason to Write

I reach out for my dearest pen,
To put my thoughts in black and white.
With words I weave a different world,
Of things familiar and imagined.
It’s a beautiful magic that I forge,
A journey I take with my soul,
To a blissful outpouring of emotions.
It’s so surreal you see,
It’s an intimacy.

The black paper is my canvas,
But, when I looked within,
The writer in me realised,
There are things dark and grim.
And I have a reason to write tonight.
Sitting at my window, caressing the black night sky…
I go steal some rainbows and sunshine,
I mix them with things unseen
And weave them with my words.
Then blow the magic, back into the sky
With pen in my hand I blissfully smile
At the pretty moon and twinkling stars.

From the chambers of my heart,
I poured out my deepest emotions
About romance and heroism
And every form of passion
From the crevices of my brain,
I penned down my fleeting memories.
So, I write and write of things I knew,
About all the things I value,
My confessions, my real entity, my truth.
As the words flowed out of my pen,
Then I lay my pen to rest.

So, this is my first poem collaboration with my most amazing friend Shreya (Wild Scared Crazy). She is congenial, remarkable and an extraordinary poetess. She is infact the synonym of all( She is my emoji queen as well😛). Shreya, when we are going to have our next collab?

If you haven’t visited her blog, do visit..!! I bet you are gonna get obsessed with her poems.

  1. Reblogged this on Wild Scared Crazy and commented:
Writing is so much more than just clumping words together, it’s a therapy, it’s a journey and so much more. And it’s so great to know and be friends with someone who understands this as well as I do. Thank you so much, Anushka, for this amazing collab. I really loved writing with you. Looking forward to more!!! ❤

  2. Ok so the pattern/style of my comments tells me to write here something related to the context yet matching the beauty of the poem post and I couldn’t think of anything that’ll do justice to the particular poem …ever since I read it so many ideas to describe the process of writing making a cyclone in my head…

    It’s like ok..

You were going to write… let’s describe it as an chemical laboratory experiment…

Your dearest pen was the conical mixing flask,
You put some appropriate miligrams of familiar things and imagination to start with ( a smell of beautiful magic coming out),
Now you are mixing it with the things unseen ( colour – getting dark and grim)

    {Ok now the rainbow & sunshine ….and moon & twinkling stars…

    Two different combinations…I don’t know how to deal with or merge together…since both the phenomenon never possible together …}

You waited from one part of the day to steal those day time colours till the night time moon and stars…

    Poured them into the flask…

A never imagined mix-up going on yet the chemical wasn’t changing colours…still being predominantly black…

From the chamber of your heart…the chemical in the flask required your deepest emotions about romance and heroism … every form of Passion…

( Chemical starts changing its colour …still dark enough)

    Then a pinch of confession
A pinch of your real entity
    A pinch of truth…

( Chemical glowing like a never expected colour )

Time to change it into the writing …

Poured the mix-up out of the flask like a splash on a paper…

    And

    Eureka! Eureka!

A mix up that struggled to change from a dark to lighter colour has every colour in it

The mix up that smelled like only emotions
Has every fragrance of life in it.

This is a post perfect !

    Well done anushka!

    Love your work!

    {P.s- sorry sherya if you feel my comments are baised to anushka( my little one), but that doesn’t mean I don’t recognise your work …you did a great job here}

  3. First of all classic yet a modern way of describing something. I wouldn’t have thought this ,a whole lot of process comes with the fact that one is going to write. For the dumbhead like me… it’s like…take the pen and choose a word then take a rhyming word to the previous word and arrange them in two lines.
But the way you both have described it …I could only imagine it with you two geniuses.
    Great Collab anushk@ and shreya!
Will be waiting for more from you two.

  4. Anushka my love this is beautiful ♥️

I loved each bit of it. I did not want you to rest your pen. I could have read it on and on.
    Black paper as canvas
And stealing rainbow and sunshine was the best part.

Last 3 lines were the soul of the poem.
    I totally related to everything.
I would love to see you coming up with more collaborations.
Shreya is indeed a wonderful blogger. I am really inspired from her.
I will wait for more such lovely poems. It was a treat reading the same.

    Sending you love ❤️
